Dementia & Alzheimer's Care: A Safe And Secure Place
If your loved one has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease or dementia, Stephenson Nursing Center knows that his or her safety is a big concern. We have the only certified, skilled Alzheimer’s and Dementia unit in the area. This 24-bed unit, just for residents who are living with these conditions, is in the same building as our other facilities, but is secured to ensure the safety of the dementia residents.
This structured setting helps us to maximize the levels of physical and mental functioning of our residents. There is a large, fenced-in yard so that they can take advantage of being outdoors, weather permitting, in safety and security.
The staff members in our Alzheimer’s and Dementia unit receive special training and certification. They participate in continuing education classes so that they are always up to date with the most modern care techniques for these residents. We take great care to make sure that the same staff members work in this unit on a continuous basis. This helps our staff get to know the residents and recognize any changes in behavior that may signal other health problems.
Stephenson Nursing Center’s goal with the Alzheimer’s and Dementia unit is to promote positive behavior among the residents. They have learned to live with each other in a positive way.
